I'll leave the experts to comment on the software how-tos. Suffice to say if you follow the instructions for setting up an IDE drive it is essentially the same.
I would like to recommend an excellent source of supply for CF to IDE cards. See http://www.pcengines.com/cflash.htm The cards are cheap, reliable and usually shipped the next day. I have ordered several and have always had good service.
