For high performance, as your case seems to be, you should probably compile your own kernel to make it as slim as possible. Unnecessary features can be removed that way. Necessary stuff could be compiled into the kernel instead of loading it as a module.

yes i know. i have removed the ip_conntrack helper modules there (no nat or masq), the point is that ip_conntrack is not a module it's in the kernel.
