Hello All,

Some more Q's after starting to build Alex's big network.

Well, after an industrious Sunday, I've managed... well, not that much
really.

Two big problems I ran up against.

One of the NICs required the rtl8139.o module.
But this would not load without pci-scan.o loaded.
I only found that out through trial, error and random poking around on
the internet. Is there a way of looking up module dependency?

And the Big Problem.

I wasn't expecting it to be quite so difficult to attach USB ADSL
modems, I guess I'm just spoilt with my cable modem just giving me and
Ethernet port and DHCP services. Although there are Eagle.lrp and
SpeedTch.lrp packages, the two ADSL modem available are a Zoom 5510A and
a BT Voyager.

I found this about the Voyager:

"This modem is based on the GT3180 and GS7070 chips from Globespan
Virata"

I found that information here:

http://www.thecaretaker.org.uk/drivers/btvoyager/btvoyagerlinux.htm

Although I admit I ran out of time and have not yet had enough time to
thoroughly study that page. I noticed that nasty word "compile" in there
though...

And finish with a small query:

There are two 3c59x.o files in the Bering_1.2_modules_2.4.20.tar.gz
One works (36Kb file) and one fails with Unresolved Symbol errors to do
with ACPI and pci_register (30Kb file)

Once again, how could I have found out that this was so?

Thanks,

James.
