That hardware router for 50 bucks isn't and doesn't have the necessary flexibility for a very large number of situations.

Oh, and did I mention VPN? :D

I've recently switched my client from a hardware D-Link router to a bering system using a specialised designed hardware with 4 ethernet controllers, 2 networks, 1 WAN and 1 DMZ. It also acts as a IPsec VPN server.
