Sorry to intrude on this thread, but I noticed a few things. The first being that the drive partitions are not set correctly. If I recall correctly, the partition types need to be set to "fd Linux raid auto"

My test set is 1 4gb drive (hdc) and an 8gb drive (hdb). I created 3 partitions each +3072M on the two devices and am trying to build the raid5 test.
