Unless it is 2.6 there won't be much "newer"

Indeed, it gets more and more difficult to find driver support for 
current hardware. Some time ago I suggested to have a 2.6 kernel 
variant. I did not have too much time lately to follow up on this, but I 
might try to get one up with leaf.
