There was definitely an element of being outbid and blaming greedy players and agents in the summer which was a disgrace given crowds resources etc but look at blackpool. Wage ceiling of £10k got into and did well in the first few months of the premier league. I guess you can argue it both ways, as the biggest team outside the prem with the consistently biggest crowds until this year we should be outbidding any sensible team but also you have to fear from preston now as ridsdale has taken over. The key for me is that a top notch manager should be able to take a decent bunch of frees and loanees and get them up.
