If we do that then there is no place for Hernandez ?I think Roofe will
interchange with Hernandez at 10, and with Sacko on wide right.
I do think we now have a pretty decent starting XI (not too sure who will
actually start once the new boys are eligible but will be something like)

GreenAyling Bartley Janson TaylorBridcutt Vierra*Barrow Hernandez SackoWood
(*or O'Kane)

With good options on the bench  - Roofe, Pedraza, Doukara, Dallas, Antonson -
who all offer something  a bit different attacking-wise (assuming they are not
starting) - with Berardi and Phillips, Cooper all on hand in case of injury etc
to shore things up
I do like the way Monk has gone about things - really basic management for
dummies - stop letting in soft goals, especially from corners - bring in
Bartley and JansonMake us totally solid at the back - bring in Bridcutt to do
the dirty work in the trenches in front of the back four.Make us a threat at
set pieces at the other end - HernandezGive us some pace as an outlet - Sacko
Now for the final pieces of the jigsaw (we hope) bring in pace and trickery up
front - Pedraza and Barrow
OF course other players have played their part (none more so than Wood) many
brought in or brought through by Monk (Ayling, O'Kane,Roofe, Vierra, Phillips)

The new additions should not affect us defensively - a solid back four with two
holding players in front will keep us secure at the back, now with skill and
pace up front we should be able to create and score a lot more goals from open
play to add to the goals we should continue to get from our own set pieces

Job done - easy

Maybe more like a 4-4-2 with Roofe playing upfront with Wood, he scored a
hatful last year as an attacker, albeit with Oxford....

Fully agree with all that Dave.

If you assume the 3 behind Wood are Pedraza - Hernandez - Roofe, you then have
some real pace / game changers on the bench in Sacko, Doukara and Barrow. The
sight of that bench will scare a few tiring full backs!

But as you say, if Wood pulls a hamstring etc, we're cobbling it together a bit
- basically relying on Doukara or Roofe stepping into a role they've barely
done all season (if you discount Antonsson - he really doesn't look cut out for
lone striker duties).

At centre back Bartley is 2 bookings from a 2 game ban and Jannson is 5
bookings from a 3 game ban - and they both like a challenge! We really need
Cooper to step up when needed (and some fans to get off his back and support
him) - or Taylor to get fit asap so we can move Ayling into the centre when
needed. But either way the quality takes a real dip for some key games there.
And if they get suspended at the same time we're f***ed!

Centre back is a tough one to have managed to cover though - hard to get
someone decent in on loan / short term when there is a real chance they'd never
actually play. One of those situations you really need a decent U-23 prospect
who you believe could step in.

Basically from now on our priority in each match is (a) Win (b) keep Wood,
Bartley, Jannson fit (c) hope Bartley and Jannson don't get booked,
