I continue to believe that whoever is making the transfer decisions this summer
must make a player's mentality and physicality as high a priority as his
Football Manager statistics. Our squad is bereft of players who stand up to be
counted when the going gets tough. There is an absence of leaders throughout
the team, but particularly in midfield. We are also literally a team of
lightweights. We need some height and physically intimidating strength. For all
their skill and one-touch passing, Wolves also have physically imposing players
in key positions. Radz and Orta should take note.

Cheers!

Sean

I think Dave is being overly generous tbh. For me we were an unknown quantity
at the start of the season, and no-one knew anything about Saiz, Alioski or
Lasogga for example. It didn't take long for other teams to work out how to
negate them. I'll break the mould slightly here and say that I don't see Saiz
as NECESSARILY being part of the future. Whilst he has lots of ball skills and
reasonable vision, he is so slow, greedy and petulant - it's his lack of speed
that is probably the reason he's still not in Spain. What bugs me is that he
doesn't look for the pass, but would rather have a long range punt which
usually means a shanked dribbler! Of course in a competent well-balanced
midfield he might look like a superstar, a la Totti or someone (another who was
slowish but plenty of skill), but at the moment he acts like an overgrown
schoolkid!Lasogga - he is, actually, dire! And that dumb look he has on his
face when he misses, does something wrong and tries to have some 'banter' with
opposition defenders is odd! If he had some Ian Baird like physicality he
might make a decent player, but powder-puff at the moment.Recent purchases -
can't say I've been dazzled by Forshaw tbh - looks workmanlike, and again in a
better team might have more to offer. As for De Bock, whoever sanctioned that
signing should be sacked immediately! I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that
Heckingbottom has his eyes on 3 or 4 League 1 players who can be sold 'the
dream' - there are plenty of players in the Championship who look good players,
and we need to be competitive enough salary wise to get some of them. Buying
rejects from other European Leagues shouldn't be our chief method of
recruitment - OK Jansson and to a lesser extent Berardi have been solid 'buys',
but the rest, I dunno.I'd also like to see H promote internally - whilst we'll
never see a Yoof team like Kewell, Woodgate etc again, if we're buying
'prospects' from all over Europe, some should be ready at 22 years of age!The
refi
t from whipping boys to promotion contenders will not be cheap, so have they
got the money, or are they just playing at it? From: Richard Naef

Wolves Damn you and your detailed analysis! However, if you had made the same
analysis in October it might have been different. Also on my point about
confidence, it's worth looking at Brighton, almost relegated in 2016, promoted
in 17, with substantially the same team and reading and wendies playoff last
season, relegation fodder this, again, pretty much the same teams.I'd say 3 3-4
million additions, GK, CH and CF, bring more youth through (& persevere with
Vieira & Alioski) an improvement in confidence and give a manager some time.
And finally of course that all important ability to save before a match and go
back and play again if you lose, that bought Me and Leeds multiple pr
emiership and champion league wins in Football Manager games.Sent from my

Rich and see how many we needKeeper - Felix / Longeran - not good enough - so
at least one keeper needed (2 if BPF not up to the job)Right back - Ayling /
Berardi - OKLeft back - Anita useless, De Bock useless so far, Berardi "not
good enough" says Berardi, so unless De Bock can be turned round we need
oneCentre Back - Jansson OK, Pennington going back / not good enough, Cooper
not good enough, Shaunessey injured and jury still out - need 2 CBsWingers -
Alioski Ok, Dallas OK as back up, Sacko even I am giving up on him. Others
there eg Roofe, Cibiski, Grot, Hernandez - not up to it - winger neededCM -
Forshaw OK, O'Kane, Phillips, Vieira , all OK on their day - remember when
Viera was the new Cook / Delph, Phillips had added goals to his game, and we
all (bar RW)
thought dropping O'Kane was a massive blunder by Monk. However all are also
very suspect and have more bad games than good - need to get rid of at least
one and bring in one replacementForwards - Saiz Ok, Hernandez Ok (but will get
worse) Lassogga going back, Ekuban jury still out, Rogers not seen him, Roofe
lightweight, Grot awful so far, Cibicki jury still out but not shown much -
another forward neededSo at least needed 1 keeper, 1 left back, 2 centre backs
(first teamer and a back up) 1 winger, 1 centre mid, 1 centre forwardSo I
reckon that makes as a minimum 7 players, unless a player or two either gets to
grips with the game (De Bock, Grot, Cibicki) or comes through from the
youngsters who have been out on loan (Denton, Coyle, Wilkes, Japanese lad) or
from the u23s - Pearce (seems most likely) Del Roi, Jack Clarke etc etcI accept
I have maybe been over the top but on any level we need to replace Pennington
and Lassogga who are on loan, find a new keeper (first team or back up
) and a left back - so that is 4 at the absolute
minimumDave________________________________From: Richard Naef

that the team put in some good performances early on in the season, so there is
a decent team in there somewhere, confidence is a big factor in any team and
that's a major issue with us. I don't think 6 or 7 are necessary for the first
team to be contenders. We weren't as good as we looked early on and we aren't
as bad as we look
