Was talking with my son about this today. I think the best Pontus was under
Monk when he was given that free role to just go attack anything in the box and
not worry about marking anyone. A bit of a stroke of genius really (probably
Pep's idea). When he has a standard defensive role he is for me less convincing
and White looks more comfortable as a ball player.

Yep having seen their goal you do have to question our defenders and keeper
which goes back to the sale of Pontus. Remember Pre-Pontus when we had real
trouble defending set pieces and looked like conceding every time. I’m not
saying we have regressed back to that but looking at White I’d say he’s more of
an anticipation defender who reads situations well and adapts but Im not sure
he’s going to be the first to the ball fromcorners and throwings like Pontus
was. We’ll see as the season progresses but it’s definitely my biggest concern
for this season.
