Eddie, Eddie, Eddie ... every time he comes on things happen. Bamford was
furious to be subbed but he'd had half a dozen chances and missed them all.
He'd not had a bad game and was unlucky with an off-side goal having put it in
the back of the net from a cross. If you get the chances you've got to put them
away and I can't help thinking that if Eddie had started we wouldn't have to
wait until 80 minutes to win the game. Obviously it's easier to come on as a
sub however you can see that Eddie has the pace and the natural goal scoring
ability which means he will score at anytime.
I said at half time that Costa and Eddie would come on and win for us and so it
was however I thought Barnsley did well and they contined to play on the break
and caused us all sorts of problems and as many chances as us. Wilks was a
problem throughout and their midfield looked lively at times. Our defence,
especially from set pieces wasn't good and the goals we've conceded this season
from set pieces shows us there's work to do in that area. How much is it down
to lack of height ? or maybe the keeper is contributing as well.
All credit to Barnsley and if they play like that they won't get relegated. On
the flip side that was probably their cup final with Halme and Wilks looking
like their were playing for their lives.
The second goal was all about Eddie's pace which was too much for Halme.
4 away wins and top of the league.
My scores:
Kiko - 8. Good saves.
Dallas - 7. Not his best game but always lively and got forward when he could.
Allioski - 6. Lively going forward and did ok but most of their attacks came on
his side and he tends to dive in. Still a better option than Douglas.
Cooper - 7. Solid defending but we looked vulnerable from set pieces.
White - 7. Solid defending and good on the ball but we but we looked vulnerable
from set pieces. I think we might be lacking a bit of height without Jansson.
Phillips - 8. Slow start but I thought he had a really good game both
defensively and with his set plays. Great ball for the goal.
Klich - 7. Lively and some great little passes around the box.
Harrison - 6. I thought he was lively and got in to some great positions but
his final ball was poor (again)
Hernandez - 5. Should have scored first half but he's always busy and always
lively and always giving the ball away. I suppose it's good news that we're top
of the league and scoring goals when Pablo is not in form.
Bamford - 7. I thought he battled hard , made some great runs and had some good
chances BUT he has to put them away.
Shackleton - 7. Great first half, full of energy. Not as effective 2nd half.
Subs:
Costa - 6. For the first time I thought he disappointed a bit but he's always
lively and gives us that option.
Eddie - 10. Came on scored a goal, made the run for the pen and then nearly got
a 3rd. Has to start.
Beradi - ran on and then the whistle went.
Top, top , top of the league.
