Got to agree with Rich on this one....

We should not be selling our best and brightest defender full stop (period
for my colonial colleagues) and certainly not for a cut price.

Of course this could be another Lennon situation where we cannot afford his
wages or to negotiate a promised new contract...Still I thought we were told
that those days were now gone. (Apparently not)

Kilgallon was a proven Premiership defender and Under 21 international. Look
at the price being quoted for other defenders, eg Matthew Upson. Or the 2
million paid, by Sunderland, this morning for an unknown 18 year old from
the Arsenal youth system, with just 2 minutes of first team experience, off
the bench, at the end of an, already won, Mickey Mouse cup game...in which
they'd played their usual reserve squad.. and don't tell me about his 16
goal haul while on loan at Falkirk. We all know about strikers who set the
world alight at that level...(Two words, Derek Lilley)... If Killa had to go
then there was a very poor marketing job done...

Has Killa made mistakes this season? Of course...he's young and learning
while trying to do the work of two and a half to three players in covering
for the dross around him....however, having said that; the number of times
he bailed us out of dangerous situations more than made up for anything he
might have given away. His pace and talent is irreplaceable at this level.

Whether we chose to, or had to let him go I believe this is another one,
that we'll live to regret.

Either way, I can only wish him all the best and only hope that the
management knows something we don't and have a master plan for survival and
then progress...

Dreaming on, together.
