Right, let’s get a few things straight.
This was the best performance since we got relegated.
FACT !
This was the most passion and commitment I’ve seen
from a Leeds team for about 4 years.
We scored two goals from open play to come back from
being 1 down at half time – unheard of since we were
relegated.
We played some decent pass and move football that
actually produced some decent chances.
We harried a lively Preston side from the off – never
let them settle and really scared the shit out of
them.
We showed good fitness levels and good stamina levels.

That’s 4 games unbeaten with 2 wins and 2 draws –
promotion form.
If we’re going to compare like for like performances
which I believe some of the Blackwell fans who didn’t
think he would be sacked before Christmas like to do ,
then let’s compare Preston at home in the play offs
and last night. A world apart. Blackwell could never
get that same performance out of his players and yes
we are second bottom and struggling to stay up but for
me if Wise can achieve this performance with this
group of players having only been in the job 5 months
then he’s the man for me.

All the above should be credited to Wise and Poyet.
I’ve said all along I’m not a Wise fan but rather than
“Chelsea boys are taking us down” it should be
“Chelsea boys are putting a bit of pride back into
Leeds”.

Last night was f’cking brilliant – that’s BRILLIANT.
When Healy got the winner with a real strikers goal we
were dancing and hugging each other in the stands like
10 year olds. Only 18,000 crowd but the atmosphere was
like a Euro champs night – it was that good.

Scores on the doors – I’ll give everyone 10 for effort
cos that’s what won the day last night.

Ankergren – 6. Scares the hell out of me on crosses.
Could he have done better for the goal maybe.

Richardson – 6. I thought he showed good bottle to
really carry on and fight through what was a difficult
first half from him. He was nowhere for the goal and
it just wouldn’t have happened if Kelly would have
been playing but as I said I think he’s doing ok
without being spectacular.

Gray – 10. What a performance. MOTM. A loanee putting
himself on the line like that was spectacular. He
wasn’t just playing left back last night, he was
leading the team, charging forward, tracking runners
and putting in superb tackles all over the park. It
was a captain’s performance and it really rubbed off
on the rest of the players.

Michelob – 7. I think he’s beginning to look ok. He’s
steady on the ball and strong in the tackle. He showed
he can play a bit too. I think him and Marques would
be strong.

Heath – 4. He’s not a footballer, he’s got no balance
and he will frequently get mugged in one on one
situations cos he hasn’t got that footballing brain
that allows him to get goal side and muscle smaller
players off the ball. His general footballing skills
are not existent and whilst he wins his fair share of
tackles and headers I don’t think that is enough
anymore.

Kishishev – 6. Not the same player last night as I’ve
seen before but you can’t complain about his effort.
One or two times he showed class in tight situations
but I really think like Michelob he;s missing a
partner – someone who can play simple pass and move
football with him and not someone who insists on
lumping forward with the outside of his boot all the
time.

Douglas – 5. I just don’t rate him and from the
comments from around us last night neither do a lot of
people. I even thought his workrate was as good last
night but that was probably because everyone else
raised theirs. He lacks quality – he plays heavy balls
forward that haven’t a hope in hell of finding their
target, his shooting his woeful but yet he continues
to try and put the ball in the net from 40 yards. He
makes aimless runs and has this habit of being in the
wrong place at the wrong time. Whilst off the ball –
watch him. He actually spends a lot of time walking
around doing nowt. He’s a weak link. I was amazed when
Blackwell gave him a 3 year contract and even more
amazed that Wise hasn’t seen through him yet.

Lewis – 8. Excellent perfromance. He battled , he got
round his man, he got into the box , he played some
good football with Gray on the left and generally
looked alive.

Blake – 7. Another frustrating performance. He was
involved in most good things we did especially in the
first half and then scored a great goal after good
work from Cressy but then he tries to nutmeg an
opposition player on the edge of his own box. I think
he thinks he’s better than he his but he has got more
skill and ability than his team mates.

Healy – 7. Struggled for most of the night but he did
look lively. Not his best game even by his admission
but he did what all good strikers do by nicking the
goal at the death and what a great strikers goal it
was.

Cresswell – 7. I thought he was really poor first half
and really struggled. Not so, second half when he
battled well, won headers and created chances. The old
Cresswell may be back.

All the subs weren’t on long enough.

Wise and Poyet – 10. Fantastic.

Crowd – brilliant atmosphere.

Couple of other things :

Michael Ricketts - was that the worse performance ever
? His miss from 5 yards was unbelievable but the
highlight for me was the trick he tried near to the
touchline that just went out of play. Piss funny.

David Nugent - I was really worried that we decided to
play the off-side trap against this bloke and I knew
he would get in eventually but when he did what the
f'ck was he doing. England ? Nah, Halifax Town more
like.
