Is there not a subtle point to be made here about cricket - regardless of
whether it's 5 day test or 1 day slogfest, Ingerland currently have poor
players for all options. I don't think we should be limiting discussion to one
crap XI, we've got several crap XIs potentially!
I never really accepted that Boycott was a poor one-dayer - mostly he seemed
to use one day games as practice, rather than as things to be won! When he did
get a lash on he was outstanding, although I'm sure there's plenty of anecdotal
examples to demonstrate that he didn't do that often enough. I'll readily
accept that my memory of Great Boycott Innings is on the wane after 30+ years
:-)
