Hmmmmmmmm .... Considering you could probably count the number of chairmen
who are 'in it for the club' on one hand, I'd err on the side of caution!
If high finance and figure manipulation are your bag then yes, most
definately, we live in very interesting times. Otherwise I think we live
in very wary, smoke and mirrors, empty promise times.
ER and the land around it are, I understand, worth £57M as it stands,
developed on the earning potential is quoted as at least £400M. So ...
being a thicky non money type, buying LUFC and the ground back for £30M
and then investing £80M - £100M in a new super stadium (Club in debt again
note!) then selling the land you now own to another company ("To raise
funds for the new stadium" sic), maybe owned by yourself as well by some
obscure chance and redeveloping that at a cost of £70M means you've spent
£200M of company money (limited liability etc etc) and have £200M of
profit on the sell on of the developed land ... If I was a money man I'd
be trying to make myself look like the greatest LUFC fan the world has
ever seen if it meant me walking away a couple of hundred mill better off
5 years down the line ... or am I paranoid!> So on Friday, if Simon Morris convinces 75% of the creditors that he is a > better bet than Uncle Ken, in X* seasons time we'll be watching 1st > Division* / 2nd Division* / Conference* / Championship* / Premiership* / > European* football from a brand new 50,000 seater stadium with some nice > shops to visit pre-kick-off. My God, we live in interesting times. > > * Fill in / delete as appropriate, depending on your optimism levels. > > > > > _______________________________________________ > the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators > accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors. > Leedslist mailing list > [email protected] > http://list.zetnet.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist > The Leeds List - "where never is heard a discouraging word..." > _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
