Delusional? Not last time I checked on Dr Mike's website..
I believe there is more of a parallel between those two examples than the example of auntie's old mangle for sale on ebay (squished tits not included). But that's irrelevant. You say I turned your point that two scenarios are different into a supporting role. On the contrary. My point, with any of the scenarios all along has been that the number of bidders is no guarantee of the highest price, nor that, necessarily the sale will even be made to the highest bidder. The fact that the business was in admin should have and did bring a number of interested parties to the table all hoping that the announcement of the NEED to sell would get them a bargain price, of some kind but, still some willing to bid a higher price than others and with, logically the sale being made to the highest bidder.. A club, in a different position who were willing to entertain offers for a sale; but not in administration, or other dire straits and so not needing to sell would attract people willing to bid on and around the going price, with again the sale usually being made to the highest bidder, assuming it met or beat the reserve price of the current owner. Now where the logic falls down is when there are outside or underhand, behind the scenes issues and manipulation to make the playing field, anything but level and the process less than open or honest., as in the sale of the club; however, another case would be where someone, on the inside leaks information that shows the seller to be in a, need to sell position instead of the, open to entertain offers posture he had held.. So when you make the point that the shady KPMG 20 minute acceptance of Bates' offer (could have said, derisory but didn't as it's irrelevant) followed by their complicity in allowing bates, through Astor to threaten and bully people (oh sorry you skipped that bit in the "best offer" for the club thing) rather than emphasizing their option to buy the club and sell on in an open honest sale process to the highest bidder, this sale, certainly did not fetch the highest possible price in a bidding war. Which as I said proved my point that regardless of the number of parties in a sale or auction, other factors can be brought into play so that, the highest bidder does not win. That's all. Hatred of Bates is a bit strong.I don't believe he is honest in his dealings, nor do I like his attitude. Good luck to him if he is eventually allowed to get away with thing; however don't ask me to stand by and say nothing of what I can see. In terms that the man himself might appreciate, "Don't look me in the eye and smile, while you're pissing on my shoes." See I bought in to the Bates as saviour mantra the first time around so now it's more of a "fool me once". situation. With apologies to others who got it the first time.I'll say again, I have no great love for Morris not do I support his bid to win, though maybe just a little more than Bates' but what I said, in response to your assertion that his bid was based on asset stripping (as were all the others, except Ken's) was that his plan for redevelopment included a modern 60,000 seat stadium which would seem to indicate the expectation of a successful footy team to play in it. Not much point in wasting the money or valuable real estate on an empty eyesore is there? So what more evidence would you like of his hopes? Of course he may be lying as may any..but as I did with the cuddly one I'm prepared to give them a guarded benefit of the doubt and look at their plans and motives before casting a blanket condemnation or rush to judgment. Mr. Bates on the other hand has had his benefit and sad to say used it to prove that he is a liar, cheat and scoundrel of the highest order.. So while I never go as far as to say "Anyone but Bates" there a plenty I'd give the opportunity to before him. _____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2007 5:09 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [LU] Wage deferrals - Healy + who? Sorry, you're deluding yourself if you think there's any parallel between the sale of a business under receivership and the sale of a footballer. My point was that the two scenarios are completely different, yet you turn that to somehow support your case. Fact remains that Healey will go for what he's worth, with the value of his current contract and the cost over X years of his next contract being the major factors. And I believe Bates will get the best price he can for him. That's what he does. Like a lot of people here, your hatred of Bates gets in the way of your judgement. You're content to speculate that Morris' property play "seems to project a view forward of having a successful football team at the heart of it.." with no evidence to support it. It's just a case of "anyone but Bates", isn't it.
