Apology accepted...

All things are mere possibilities until they, actually happen one way or the
other.

My point was and still is Bates loose tongue and targeted outburst was
likely to have a negative effect on value, ...

The quote below comes from much later in the argument after you'd
interjected the, multiple bidder equals a guarantee of highest possible
price factor... plus the addition of ebay etc.

It simply re-states that your assertion is not always the case and supports
my original point that Bates' comments would not do us any favours in
negotiations..

Believe me, I'll be happiest, should your scenario be proven correct, on
this occasion. Though I'd hope it brought a little more than you
predict...and no less than that sum, if I must be proven correct.

Erm sorry mate, your original argument was that because Bates wanted rid of
Healy we would therefore get the lowest price for Healy. I suppose you
forgot to add the word 'possibly' in your original statement?

On the contrary. My point, with any of the scenarios all along has been that
the number of bidders is no guarantee of the highest price, nor that,
necessarily the sale will even be made to the highest bidder.
