<snip>

Leeds had a penalty denied for the most obvious handball in the history
of the game, and it is about time that the FA started to punish offences

like this retrospectively (but that is a different thread)

Another thread coming up......

I agree 100%, this is long overdue. Why we do not have video referee's
to back up the man on the spot I just cannot fathom - it's not as if we
are talking about unreliable technology is it? The football league
should get with the times and resolve a great big hole in the system.

Taking a look at last night of the 2 penalty claims to ref got a score
of 50% (would this be a pass mark or a winning score in any other
profession I wonder?) - But he "could" have got both wrong and given a
penalty to Crewe for the perfectly good tackle in the Leeds area and put
us 1 goal down - would this have affected the result? I certainly think
so. It would also have been taking the piss if the guy who handled the
ball had have scored on the immediate attack by Crewe after the hand
ball incident.

For obvious blatant infringements - especially game altering ones the FA
and League could put in an immediate effect rule to reserve the right to
use video evidence and then give whatever penalty they see fit. For
instance, I think the penalty should be raised if the hand ball changes
the probable score in a game and denies the opposition the points to
achieve a championship league place, but likely not as much if the
others team is 4 nil up and there is 2 minutes to play (both should
involve a ban for the player however)

What do you guys all think?

Steve
