My first ever Leeds match. I was born in Malaysia and we were on a trip to
England. My Dad supported Arsenal and I supported Leeds (Lord knows how I
picked them in the 60's in Malaysia, never having seen them play nor read
anything about them, I think I liked the white shirts to be honest.) Dad took
me to Highbury to watch Leeds play on a trip to the UK in 1969. We went down
1-0 and I remember being nearly in tears at half time (must have been about 6
at the time) and we were in the stands with Arsenal fans all around me. Second
half saw us equalise with an Allan Clarke lob over their goalie, (I remember it
being Wilson but could be wrong). I went mental and was the only person jumping
up and down in pretty much the whole stand! Luckily no one bothered to duff up
a 6 year old.
Jabba's site said it was Lorimer who scored that day but I could have sworn it
was Clarke, anyone else at that game?

Next time I saw Leeds it was on the telly in the FA Cup final against Chelsea
in a hotel room in London when we were on another holiday. It must have been
edited highlights cos they showed both games back to back and I was confused as
to why the game had four halves! Come to think of it, I remember my parents
left me in the room to go and have dinner in the restaurant downstairs, that
wouldn't happen these days!

Those big rosettes! I remember them, they were fecking great. Then came the
70's and the tradition of tying your scarves around your wrists.

Aah memories

Jeremy
