It is all about bang-for-buck.

Apple lost any technical advantage wrt desktop publishing and other arty
shit about 15 years ago.

So, given that there is nothing you can do on an apple phone/pc/media
player that you cannot do as well on a non apple product, and for cheaper,
it boils down to 3 things;

1) Ignorance - somehow believing that apple is better for dtp, or arty
shit or whatever and not knowing it isn't.

2) Style reasons - they nearly always look better.

3) Simplicity - Apple is notoriously proprietry, fine if you are happy
working within the tight limitations you get with Apple products - then
the simplicity may work for you.

Think of it like this, you may decide to buy a flashy integrated av/music
system because you think it is the best/only option for you, or it looks
cool, or you are happy being tied into the current technologies etc. The
supplier knows this and charges a premium for it.

In reality you would get better performance from a different, non trendy,
maker. Or to get separates, which don;t necessary match.

As I said, if you dont mind the restrictions (where the stability comes
from), or are happy knowing you are paying more because it is Apple, then
cool. I have a Dell laptop with Vista, and I install all kinds of
software on it which could and should cause stability issues and it hasn't
crashed or blue screened once. My only gripe with Vista is the indexing,
which is enabled by default but you can turn off.

An equivalent specced/performing mac would have cost at least double what
I paid.
