It just didn't work today.
Glossing over the fact that i managed to miss KO despite it probably being the
easiest ground for me to get to, on arrival i found the same team as last week
except Casper was in goal for Lucas.
First was fairly even in terms of possession but we only really had one clear
chance, whereas they had about four due to some calamity defending. At least 2
of these were near own goals, with attempted clearances hitting a defender and
ricochetting narrowly past the post. Casper also made a good save from a 1 on 1
from a narrow angle and with the other the attacker fell over the ball when
clean through. Our only really clear chance came when Becchio tried to lob the
stranded keeper but it went wide. Lots of good possesion and a couple of decent
runs from White but no end product.
Second half they scored early after what looked like a cross was controlled
with a hand before being fired back in and steered home. We had a dodgy 5
minutes after that but then began to take control of possession. Beckford fired
over, Howson took too long when clear in the area and then set up Delph whose
shot was parried but didnt go to one of ours.
Snodgrass replaced Howson and we went 4-2-4, which would be fine if we could
cross but we wasted numerous good positions. Robinson went close a couple of
times after cutting in from the left, Snodgrass hit a free-kick from the edge
of the box straight into the wall and Bacchio was given offside after netting
the rebound from Kilkenny's shot (who'd come on for a tiring Delph.
Peterboro had done very little for 30 minutes but then broke right at the end
and after a bit of a scramble finished the game off in injury time. They
probably just about deserved the win for making better chances but with the
amount of possession we had we should have at least scored.
Scores
Casper 6 - Part of a very jittery defence first half.
Richardson 6 - Best of defence first half, got roasted twice in 2nd half by
breaking winger.
Marques 5 - Had a bit of a shocker first half, improved second.
Telfer 6 - Losing battle to instal order in first half.
White 6 - Better going forward than defending.
Douglas 7 - Pretty decent and got forward well.
Howson 4 - Maybe his worst game for Leeds
Delph 6 - Tried hard and lots of fancy footwork but not much end product.
Robinson 8 - Involved a lot and our biggest threat. Had failure to cross
disease like all others.
Becchio 7 - Held ball up well and most likely scorer.
Beckford 4 - Peripharal, prima-donna. Not involved enough and had some
ridiculous shots.
Subs
Snodgrass 6 - Helped stretch them
Kilkenny 7 - Looked good playing in middle.
Parker 6 - Ok at back, little going forward.
Rhinos were good though !
