All football fans are by default, entirely wired to the moon in their aspirations for their club and are more often the most irrational beings there are.
If you had Hannibal Lector as Chairman/Manager/Captain, but were winning the league with a modicum of style then _probably_ there'd be little complaint. How else can one explain the minimal protesting at the ex owner of a mancunian team, the present owner of a club in SW London. Do MU fans care that much that MU as a going concern is technically bankrupt with 100s of millions of dollars debt? Same for Liverpool. Every now and again there are some come grumblings (particularly at LFC) but they don't care now they're top of the league. As for the players and the sheer dogs abuse they get - both your own players and those of the opposition - it is truly staggering and yes, most definetly it is a distraction. At the end of the day, even on our best most amazing day at 5-a-side or out on a real pitch in a Sunday league game, the worst player at LUFC would still be a million times better than any one of us actually playing the game - and yes I'd include Andy Hughes or Kandol in that. I think it's a combination of my age, over exposure to football on the telly here in Spain (up to 8 games live on free tv on euro weeks) and the fact that LUFC have spent 3 years in Div 2, and now probably 3 more in Div 3..... but i'm just not getting carried away with it any more, win or lose. Still though, i foresee Grayson as manager of LUFC against the club whom he played for this saturday - if fate exists - having a winning start.
