I'll start some chat then, if there aren't any reports from Saturday to read and discuss.
I went to the ballet on Friday night. First time I've been, and it was BRILLIANT! I won't go in to the detail here of the performance, my point is that those blokes (and women) nail every physical move they attempt every time. They are fit, strong, athletic, and must train really really hard, repeating the same moves over and over again, until they can make those moves faultlessly. So why don't footballers do that? I know there are variables on a football pitch that there aren't there on a theatre stage (wind, grass, opposition players), but lots of things in football are very predictable. Like penalities. And corners. And a five yard pass to another player in your team. If a ballet dancer can jump up in the air and twiddle his feet backwards and forwards eight times before landing (I've no idea what that move's called), and do this 20 times in the performance without mistake, why can't a footballer kick a ball from the corner spot to somewhere roughly above the penalty spot even once during a game? Or direct the ball from a penalty spot in to roughly a square metre of the goal he chooses? It does seem that the discipline ballet dancers must have, to be that fit and that good, together with their balance and control, and their ability to remember moves, if applied to any footballer, would make that footballer a much better player. Send them to the ballet, that's what I say.
