As Rich has said most of you will have seen this on the TV so little needs
adding - from my point of view we had 90mins non stop singing (a 20 minute
rendition of "we all love Leeds" from 27th minute until half time was
particularly impressive and annoyed the locals no end - their attempts to
drown us out were pretty feeble and did not work - I am 50years old and
still love that side of things !!
It was superb and came across great on the tele. Even the currrent Mrs. E.
noticed as she lifted her head fron the ironing.
Overall we deserved something from this game and if Beckford had been fit I
am sure we would have won. As it was Becchio and Dickinson did not really
work and so actual clear cut chances were at a premium and we had no-one
good enough to finish the few we had. The general consensus re Dickinson is
that a) He is crap and b) He should be the replacement for Becchio and that
Grella should be the replacement for Beckford.
I thought Dickinson improved marginally from Saturday but that still meant
he was pretty crap. I think he's not the most intelligent of footballers so
it will take him time and matches to get on to the same wavelength as those
he's playing with. On Saturday and last night there were times when he
didn't expect the player with the ball to do what he did and so wasn't ready
to react to what had happened. The more he trains and plays with the team
the more those aspects of his game should improve. Grayson will certainly
keep picking him either in place of Beckford/Becchio or on the bench if
Beckford/Becchio are fit as, like all managers, he'll want to show that he
was right to persue the signing in spite of all the obstacles. I did read
somewhere that at Blackpool he played as the lone striker in front of a five
man midfield which would explain Saturday's tactics after Becchio first went
off. The article said he did it very well too, so perhaps we'll see an
improvement over time as his match fitness increases.
