If Beckford wants to go primarily to play at a higher level then fair
enough, but if the transfer listing is purely down to his contract terms
then I think I need to point something out here..

Ok, to say we got burned from dishing out lucrative contracts when in the
PL is a bit of an understatement - we were clearly living way above our
means if we didn't qualify for the champions league.

However, financially I would find it difficult to believe that we were
worse off than a lot of Championship clubs given our attendance and
status. The difference between payments from the FL for Championship
placings and League One placings is also hardly relevant (how much did
Coventry receive and how much did we receive?).

So, why the f~ck can't we pay championship level wages to top players? If
it means we are likely to get promoted then it should be paid.

Where exactly is all the supporter revenue going if we cannot compete with
the likes of Coventry City? We are rightfully proud of our supporter
base, but what is it benefitting us supporters financially?

We need players who can play at Championship level to get us automatic
promotion. We should expect to pay Championship level wages for those
players.
