I was just thinking how brilliant our defence has been this season - only 8
conceded in 16 games and only Millwall have managed to score more than one
against us (and one of theirs should not have been allowed) and when you think
how soft we were at the back (especially with set pieces) under Mcallister.
What is even stranger is that we have done this with our number one left back
missing after the first game and being replaced with a right sided midfield
player. Add to that the fact that our best keeper has been missing for a while
(and Casper has kept a clean sheet in the last 3 games). Our first choice right
back has also been missing (Crowe) and replaced with a central defender
(Bromby) in many games.
In fact we have not really had a settled back five, with Naylor missing a few
with injury and Kisnorbo a couple because of international call ups.
IF our first choice back 5 is Higgs, Crowe, Naylor, Kisnorbo, Parker - only one
them played on Saturday, away from home in awful conditions and we still kept a
clean sheet !! Pretty remarkable, and it is not as if we have done this the
George Graham way by defending for 89mins and never scoring - we are up there
with the top scorers in the Division.
