Beckford certainly has his part to play - as do most/all of the team (including SG).
But...with Beckford it's been seen before - he is an egotistical person that believes in the publicity that his agent is managing to create. He's good - but not that good. He's only the third best scorer in the THIRD division for god's sake - and as you rightly say, goals count. History counts for nothing - it's the here and now. It was forecast by myself and others on here that all of a sudden he'd find his scoring boots for the big televised games (that just happened to co-incide with him handing in a transfer request), and he delivered. He failed to deliver in the games before, the games in between and the game after. How do you explain that? As to Kandol, I don't think he's good enough, and I don't think anyone can play effectively alongside the type of player Beckford is. I'd much rather we got a couple of forwards/strikers who could play together and have Grella, Kandol, Becchio supporting them. If Everton are really offering £2M, and SG has a contingency plan, we should get rid. I have major concerns as to JB's ability to focus on the rest of our season when his head and heart (such as it is) are elsewhere.
