(Snip Michael's hymn of praise to Man U.)

Mixed feelings about all this stuff Michael.

I too hate the Munich song and have nearly got myself into trouble on the
Kop a few times recently by roundly abusing some of the arseholes singing
it. Like you I find it totally abhorrent to celebrate the deaths of many
fine people and remember the shock and horror all football fans felt at the
time when it was popular to respect opponents and not hate them.

However I also find abhorrent the "We must all love Man U because a lot of
their players died in a plane crash 50 years ago" sentiment that our beloved
press and a lot of their fans promulgate, and all the Theatre of Dreams
shite and the way it's put about that they play the purest of football and
all other teams can only aspire to be as good as them and all the other
bollocks that surround Brand Man U.

They are not, and never have been, above the darker arts that all
professional teams practice from time to time and mix the gamesmanship and
clogging with the undoubtedly excellent football they have produced and
still do produce.

I would like to see us rise to their level but would also find it very
amusing to see them down at our current level. They wouldn't maintain the
crowd levels we have done if they did, that's for sure.
