I endorse everything that Terry E has said - this was a commanding and
comprehensive victory and we were in total control from the first whistle. The
game had barely started when a scramble led to Gradel missing a sitter - I was
moaning about it with a bloke behind me who said I had to be confident - at
which point the resultant corner was headed into the net - the bloke's gloating
\ celebrating however was cut short as the 'goal' was disallowed. It did not
seem to dent our spirits in any way and shortly after a free kick from Snoddy
seemed to be saved comfortably by the keeper but then spill out of his hand to
the poaching Becchio who scrambled it home from a couple of yards out. We
continued to create chances with both Snoddy and Becchio missing easy chances
and Howson having  a decent effort. The general view was that we needed to get
a second whilst we were so much on top but instead a free kick to them on their
first foray into our half was pumped
into our box and the forward attacked it well and headed it home. This was
about the last action of the half and the mood which had been buoyant a few
minutes before was more nervous over the half time period. We should not have
worried we started the second half brightly and soon the ball came to Bromby on
the  edge of the area - as I was roundly abusing him and shouting that he
should push forward and not cross it from there, he crossed and Mad Max
out-jumped them all and headed home (shows what I know about football)  A few
minutes later a lovely ball on the turn from Max went to Becchio as he powered
forward, advancing on the keeper with the defenders trailing in his wake - no
way on earth will Becchio score this I thought - wish it was Beckford in this
position - wrong again, the ball hit from  just inside the area beat the keeper
and nestled in the net - 3 1 and game over. We could and should have had more
and it would obviously have helped our
goal difference - but lets not be greedy. Becchio could have had a hat trick
but fluffed it and they had a couple of half chances. Max and Becchio had run
themselves into the ground ,chasing and harrying defenders and closing them
down, and they coupled this was good skill (especially Max) and good
interchange - Grayson had got his selection right (another gaff by myself since
I would have stuck with Beckford and Gradel)
All in all a good performance - best of the year maybe - a good result and
matters are back in our own hands.
If I did individual scores it would be 8 all round with 9 each for Becchio and
man of the match Max.
Like Terry I enjoyed the new songs and also liked the "JPT who gives a
f...,we're super Leeds and we're going up !!
Even better for me the coach driver let me off at the bottom of my road instead
of taking me into Manchester - saving me best part of £20 and over an hour.
