Managed attending a rare 2 games in 4 days with Southend and Carlisle, and what an increasingly enjoyable experience it was!
Agree with Terry and Dave N's match reports. Would just add I thought Kilkenny was man of the match for me - he obviously pulls all the strings in terms of getting the whole team passing the ball on the deck, but also did a massive amount of work last night tackling, harrying and closing down. All the stuff that the cliche merchants say he doesn't do. When Kilkenny and Snoddy get flowing, we can play. Encouragingly last night we actually showed some width, with Bromby and Hughes clearly having been told to get forward more after the depressingly narrow and frustrating efforts for much of the Southend match. They finally seemed to click that even if they don't actually deliver crosses (and they did a few times last night to be fair - Hughes was ceaseless in his running), by at least making those runs forward they stretch the game across the pitch and create space for the likes of Snoddy. Tiny grumble of the evening - can't believe a small number of morons actually booed Beckford when he came on. What short memories some have.
