Hello Joe
I second that, I would not even try to up-grade with the alum. rail. true the
steel rail may have some play in THEM, but I believe you should be able to work
around that in most cases. if not you can always re-enforce the rails with
other solid material like plywood or corrian...? Your uni-strut rails will be
very easy to modify if you want in the future. there are lots of possibilities
to your old machine.
I would play around and get to learn as much as you can with this machine, if
I were you.
The chain is an add on, not Legacy's, and can not be used with the gears, But I
do like the idea. (both Bill and Tim have been playing around with the same
concept in the,not-so-very long past.) Your wooden index plates are very nice.
Over all I really like your machine. I cant wait to see/hear what you will be
making with it.
have a great day.
And Again Welcome to the Group.
C.A.G.

Welcome to the group Joe. Have you seen the tutorials on Legacy's original
site? Look at everything under the training tab.

I too am curious to see what machine you have. Hard to guess without seeing
a photo. Is it painted red or black?

I own an older legacy mill (pre Aluminum carriage) and need any
instructions or help I can get. I have no documentation whatsoever and
the mill has had a home built drive to long screw axis added. I dont
know the model but it appears the capacity is just short of 96"
measured from headstock. Thanks for your consideration Joe Gassen
