Hi Roger,

Perhaps he does have a legacy but then again nothing I’ve ever seen him do
ever came from one, even his protégé Dennis Liggett who work side by side
with him for over a decade ever said he used one.

Hi Michael

Maybe I let the cat out of the bag, but you learn something new everyday.

Hello Roger,

I have meet and seen Stuart in action multiple times, just last year at the
Utah Turning Symposium and before that at the North Carolina Woodturning
Symposium, he has never mentioned having a Legacy and everything I’ve seen
him displayed here in the States he’s made with an assortment of hand and
power tools.

Hi Michael

I think your wood turning friends are missing a trick. For instance over
here in the UK people like Stuart Mortimer, a world renowned turner, has a
Legacy 1200 and he uses that in some of his turning processes. Take a look
at his fantastic turnings which sell for big $ in USA galleries.

Part of the fun of wood turning is mixing up the different techniques to
produce the finished article.

I also purchased a Legacy 1200 and the rotary table in 2004 which sat in my
shop in multiple boxes until this January when I finally found a home for it
at the local Mohawk Valley Woodturners Club I belong to, it lacked several
parts and the accompanying videos were in a VHS format but Legacy after
about 4 months of pestering finally got me all the parts and DVD formatted
videos. Still haven’t used it because Club has little interest in it, but
it’s ready to go router and all so may just sell it.

In July of 2004 Legacy sent an order to a customer that consisted of 10
boxes with a total weight of 277 pounds. The purchaser never opened the
boxes and they have been on the top shelf in his business since then. The
packing slip list various items related to MA12. The invoice total was
$2409.00. I paid him $850.00 for the 10 boxes, or $3.06 per pound- (not
including shipping costs). UPS will deliver the shipment to me on Tuesday
(8/27).

Please let me know if you have an idea as to what I bought. (I am wondering
if it is similiar to the Woodchuck I use to own). It will be interesting to
see what Santa brings me. :-) Have fun with your Legacy and remember,
SAFETY FIRST. Best Regards all, Dewell T Crews
