On the top hat bushing, they can be rotated about six times before you need to
replace them. The real issue is checking in the first place that they fit
right. Second buy a can of dyna-glide from magnate.net. I've found the only
place you notice the wear is in the "Y" axis. The "X" just sags.

bearings for each axis. I considered the adjustable bushings, then
realized that on the Y and Z axis the hole that the 10x32 bolt goes
through and holds the delrin bushing is eliptical on the order of .200
wide x .400 long. This is more than enough for adjustments. As I
recall the excentric bushings for the v-1 bearing only has an
adjustment of .012.

looking closer at the photos, there are at least three "V" rails, almost
the length of the machine, laying on top of the machine, as tim mentioned...i
might guess that burney intended the rails to be be both above and below the
bearings, and the mod was not completed...again, great design...would consider
it for my machine...does anyone know if the hardware was custom made or is
there a source for it?...joe

Someone asked about the tail stock being upside down, Yes it is. I
asked Burney about that a long time ago, he felt it made things easer to get
the screws on tailstock.
I attached two pictures of Burney's set-up. I saved a few letters
(e-mails) for him as well. He was a Neat Man! May he Rest in Peace.I will for
one will remember him fondly.

this is the same 1800 that rgoldner was selling that belonged to
burney ward...there are a couple of posts regarding this machine that were last
commented on about ten days ago...seems this piece is not getting any interest,
which is what some of us were referring to in a recent post...is it the
price?...is it the location?...machine seems to have a number of options and
accessories...anyone have any input as to what this machine might be
worth?...difficult question...it would be one value if you are an occasional
user/hobbyist...and perhaps another if you are using it it in a furniture
making shop...i am relatively new to having a legacy piece of equipment, so my
opinion would be based on my recent purchases...but i'll take a stab at it and
