for what my two cents are worth, granted, a legacy is not a holtzapffel, but
with a bit of creativity and ingenuity, it is the best machine on the
market, by far...and yes, there are holtzapffel knock offs in the market
place, but to what degree could you use them as a supplement to your wood
working business?...and sorry tim, i did not take notice to the "new member"
rule...LOL...but hey, it might be fun to know what anyone is using to turn
some wood...joe

I Know I'll get my head handed to me on a rusty skew but I think of Legacy
as Milling machines and consider conventional wood turning lathes ( Jet,
Powermatic, Oneway etc.) very different animals. Legacy machines are a small
step in the direction of Ornamental Lathes. Cheers Tom D

Your not a new guy! I'm wondering if the latest batch of new members are
just learning to turn using only the legacy.

I think it was also realized that a majority of legacy owners who were also
turners, chose the ShopSmith as their weapon of choice. I for one, started
as a wood turner, purchased a ShopSmith because of space, and now only use
it as a lathe. My business is pretty much built on the ability to turn as
well as mill. 23 years later .................

Do you own a lathe as well as a piece of Legacy's equipment? In the past I
asked this question and found the majority of lathe owners also own a
legacy.
