Hi Jim I have a 900 and I have the 900 Legacy Legs on mine and I think the height is OK but the legs are not very substantial.
As to the height I think the centre line of Head & Tail Stock needs to be about halfway between your waist line and your eye line or if you have a lathe then use that as an indicator. Ideally you want to be able to see what you're working on without having to stoop. I am building a bench for it and am wondering what the height should be. For those of you with a model 900, how high is it off the floor and are you satisfied with the height? A better question might be, "What is the dimension from the floor to the top of the upper fixed rails? I think that encompasses more than just the 900. Also, how tall are you? I'm sure what is optimum for someone 5'5" is not the same for someone 6'0", etc, etc. Thank you for your help.
