Margaret, I have chimed in several times on the issue of source citations and have mentioned Elizabeth Shown Mills many times on this list, with references to *Evidence!* and to her newer *QuickSheet*. Please see the LUG archives under sourcing issues and you will see my posts.

David, as for the date of her new book - I recently attended the advanced methodology (course 4) class at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and Elizabeth was the coordinator. I asked her about her upcoming book *Evidence Explained* and she said she is actively working on it. When I asked when it would be out, she said she did not want to give an estimate because there is a lot involved. I will cross-post to this list when I hear it is out because sourcing is such a critical (and underused) step in good genealogy.

Her guides are wonderful and I understand the new book will be quite large! If anyone is serious about doing quality genealogy research, these books are a must!

Hi Margaret,

I would hold off (my opinion) for now - I've read that she is coming out
with an updated version "soon." Anyone have anything firm on this?

No one since I have begun reading messages from the LUG has mentioned
Elizabeth SHown Mill's book: Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the
Family Historian (about $15) [Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co.
1997] Elizabeth gives extensive examples of primary source entry types
and subsequent entries as well as bibliographic entry style.
