I don't think it possible, or certainly not easy, to program this. If you
study Dennis's response you will see that Legacy presumably changes an
event's order number when its position is changed. Whilst it is possible to
do this globally if the events are to be placed in date order I cannot see
how it can be done for what are in effect random choices.

This is where a "sort date" might provide the answer to what Ron wants, and
what I want.
A non-printing Sort Date would be entered in addition to the "real" date,
making it sort permanently into the chronology wherever you want or need
it. You only have to enter it once. It never appears in any kind of output,
and can be changed at will.
I don't *always* want everything sorted chronologically - but it is
certainly more often the case.
