Ron,
I think I'll go ahead & back them up. I find myself assuming the
settings are the same as they were before, and they are not. Thanks for
all your help!

I can understand that, Kirstin, and saving the USR files to disc or a
new folder on your hard drive will do this for you. What I find though
is that although my main screen colours tend to stay the same for a
long period of time ( I do get fed up with them and change them now
and again) the settings for reports, web pages and to a lesser extent
the wording of events etc are being changed so frequently that it
simply is not worthwhile. As I said, I would save the lot if I was
reformatting and tend to do so also when a new version of Legacy comes
out.
I emphasise, however, that this is only my way of working and like
many other things different people will have different ways of doing
things. At the end of the day the choice is with each user.

Ron,
When I reformated I had to start all over with customizing the
options. I would like to be able to save my settings, so I can import
them & not have to change every little detail (color, check boxes, etc).

Kirstin,
I am not clear about the first part of your question. There is no
real need to back-up these files as if they become corrupted then
they can just be deleted and Legacy will recreate them when you
reset your settings. The point I was making was only in relation to
an occasion when one wanted to reformat the disc and not as a
general back-up. I don't back them up - except that if a new version
of Legacy comes out I do as a "just in case" precaution.
The files in question are those which have a .USR extension and
assuming that you are using the Legacy defaults may be found by
going to My Computers>Local Disc (C)>Legacy.
Hope this helps.
