Don't forget Windows Regional and Language Options plays a role in how Legacy interprets this. To find this on XP machines, go to Start >> Control Panel >> Regional and Language Options.
On my machine, under the tab "Date," there is a 'Calendar' setting. It says when I two-digit year is entered; it is to be interpreted as a year between 1930 and 2029. Therefore, if the year entered is "59" it should be taken as 1959. If the year entered is "22" it should be taken as 2022. All is fine if you enter 1905-1907. I think Legacy now views 20__ as the default century and 19__ must be entered manually. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Susan Daily Sent: Wednesday, September 13, 2006 2:09 PM To: LegacyUserGroup Subject: [LegacyUG] Date entry bug, i.e. 1900-07 I am running Legacy Deluxe version 6.0.0.108 on Windows XP. My dates are formatted to display as 21 Nov 1953. I've been editing some dates in Events for various Individuals. I have an existing date of, let's say, 1907. I find an earlier date to add, so I go to edit the 1907 to read 1905-1907. I place my cursor in front of the 7, type "5-0" so it will read 1905-07, then press Tab, and Legacy changes it to 1905-1906. I tried this with 1900-1903, also, and it changed that to 1900-1901. If you just type in 1900-07, Legacy changes that to 1900-1901. In earlier versions, from what I recall, I used to be able to do the shorthand, and Legacy added the century automatically. Did some programming cause this to change? I tried selecting "Format with 4-digit year" but this did not change anything. I normally have that unselected. Can anyone duplicate this?
