Laura,

That's right. the User ID in the Marriage Information
window is used to
identify that particular marriage.

At Options > Customize > View, you can select to show
RINs or User IDs on
lists or the Family View. Unfortunately neither
number will show on the
Marriage bar.

There are a lot of ways to number your paper files.
I like the Mary EV Hill
color coding system for filing (which Legacy also
uses to identify ancestral
relationships).

The Marriage Information window has a field called

supposed to be for Marriage ID?

Also, on the Family window, there is a bar under the
couples' names that has
the marriage info ... I see that fields cannot be
added to be visible on
that bar, like the Marriage ID. I could make a static
Marriage ID for filing
(of my own creation), and then not worry about how
the RINs and MRINs are
reassigned. There would not be a relationship between
the RINs and MRINs and
the Marriage ID I would arbitrarily assign to couples
and their families.
