Nancy, If this a duplicate message, my apologies to all - the last seemed to disappear into the ether!
If you have done much merging it may be that you have some ghost marriages remaining so I would check your MRINs and correct if necessary. Failing that it seems as though some files may be corrupted so I would try File>File Maintence>Check/Repair. After either of the above, recalculate the relationships as appropriate and then try the colours again.
