I haven't been on line for a while so didn't see your reply
until now.
I am using Adobe Reader 7.0.9
I do not have Acrobat 8.0 and when I check for updates
on the Reader, it does not show 8.0 as being available.
I do not know what "e-mail links in web pages" means -
can you give me a web page where an e-mail link exists?
In Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs Tab - what does it say
for Email?
It says Eudora
Right click on empty bit of Start menu (or on the Start button) and
choose Properties and then on the Start Menu tab, click the customise
button. What does it say for email?
I did not have the email box checked but Eudora showed in grey letters.
When I put the check in E-mail box, then Eudora showed in black letters.
I'm not sure this "auto email capability" is all that important to me.

Does your computer know that Eudora is your default email program?
When you click on email links in web pages, does Eudora open? I used
to have trouble with this from Opera and had to put in some code in
Opera preferences - but that seems to be a problem from the past as
I don't think I had to do that on this installation and it doesn't
appear to be there.

I think I understand the process George Quinn described.
I use Eudora version 7 as my email program and I can't
get it to work. I assume Eudora does not provide the
interface which other programs do.
If someone knows how to make it work, I would appreciate
hearing from them. Otherwise the article should describe
the process may not work with some email programs.
