World Vital Records has alot of good things to offer. These days you can get a one-month trial at very low cost (3.33 right now, I believe) and see for yourself. Or any new databases are automatically free for the first 7 days they're online. You can search their databases for free so you have any idea whether it's worth paying up for anything. You don't have to decide between it and Ancestry.com. If you can only afford one or the other put your Ancestry subscription on hold for long enough to try the other, no long-term commitment required. Ancestry can also be purchased by the month or quarter, so you can lower your costs and minimize your commitment time that way.

I too took up one of their special offers, not knowing what WVR was.

I hate it, I really can't make head not tail of it and as all my folk are/were in England I find it just abt useless. Ancestry for me.

They are totally different. So far all I have found is that it just takes me to a lot of other databases. (Which, to be fair, I suppose I wouldn't get to in any other way.)

I subscribe to both - but if I had to choose one, it would be Ancestry.

Subject: [LegacyUG] An apology in advance

Hi,

Sorry but not aware where to ask this question, apologize if this is the
wrong place, but you all seem to be the final word on Genealogy.

My subscription to Ancestry.com runs out next month and I got this great
offer? on World Vital Records. Can anyone direct me to the place where I might find out opinions on switching over or if I should renew with what I
got? I know that if I had seen Legacy years ago, I would have not kept
buying FTM, so just didn't seem to travel in the right circles?

Thanks in advance
