I've been exploring the world of GPS recently. While I understand basic latitude and longitude from high school geography I'm still trying to understand the difference between DEC representation (i.e. 35.234085) vs what's supposed to be the same reading in DMS representation (37 degrees 14 minutes 02.70 seconds) and Degrees as Decimal....not sure exactly what that one is! All in all the whole subject is still quit confusing.
Anyway, assuming I can figure it out, I find a place that explains it in detail or someone can explain it to me I've been looking at the recording of a location in Legacy. In my way of thinking explanation of this in Legacy is not all that helpful. I have, however, found that under VIEW; MASTER LISTS; LOCATION and then finding and editing a cemetery location I've previously recorded there is a place to fill in the latitude and longitude. As a test I put in some realistic looking coordinates on one cemetery. My question now is....WHERE does this information show up? I don't see it on the FAMILY PAGE tab. Don't see it on a INDIVIDUAL or FAMILY report. Having recording it one would think it would be displayed somewhere on some report(s). I must be missing something in the way of a setting. I'd welcome a discussion on GPS, latitude, longitude in general as well, as the specific points addressed in this query, from anyone with any experience using this new GPS recording technology and what is being used...the DEC or DMS version! Thanks in advance for any replies, to the list, or privately. gc Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
