Valerie,

In my day job I am a computer training specialist, with particular
emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite (this includes Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint), so I am fairly familiar with both Access and
Excel.

>From my reading of your e-mails on this subject, I would say that what
you require is most easily accomplished through Excel. Luis
Salreta's response indicated the way I would do what you are trying to
do, i.e., backup your Legacy file first, then export the file to a
csv. Open this in Excel, and you can very easily sort on up to 3
columns at a time. If you need help with this, please feel free to
contact me off-list.

Hope this helps,

Dermot.

P.S. You know, everybody I've come across on this list is very
helpful, and all the responses to your query that I've seen have been
helpful, I haven't seen one nasty one. Sometimes, if we're feeling
aggrieved about the way we think we're been treated, we always expect
that we will be badly treated. When someone sends an e-mail, there is
no way to transmit tone of voice, so what you read may not always be
the "tone" of the original poster. It's always good to remember that.

I would say, when you have a question to ask, ask it (you may have
asked a few recently, but that's fine, continue to do so). Just make
sure that you give as much relevant information as possible to enable
people to answer your question fully. If someone asks for a further
clarification, they're not trying to get at you, they're not being
nasty, they just want to help you, but need more info so that they can
do that. Remember, everybody here (apart from Jim Terry, Geoff
Rasmussen and Sherry) is a user just like you, and we have all been in
a similar situation to you (i.e., a newbie!) However, if you continue
to see "nasty" comments where there aren't any, people will stop
trying to help, in case their comment gets labelled as nasty too.
Good luck, and continue to ask your questions.
