Claire, your reply was helpful to others - me, I notice that from time to time people misread/misunderstand a question or reply and a lot has to do with the fact we are all from different countries around the world. Often the meaning of a word or action can be completely different from one country to another; a number of years ago my brother-in-law went to America for a holiday and met a woman who he married later, she came out to Australia for the first time a couple of months after he returned and came to our place for tea and the conversation turned to the Footy and how my team had just been thrashed again and she came out and told us that she rooted for such n such team in America, to which we all broke up laughing. She could not understand what was so funny until it was explained that in Australia to "Root" for a team means that she had sex with the whole team as we "barrack" for a team.
The thing I find with the LUG is that often we are not alone in misreading a question but I have found that by running up Legacy and looking at what the person has said in the reply has helped me to understand Legacy so much better. I have just printed out a Source Citation Report and a Location Report to compare to the different answers that were posted as it will help me with my "organizational overhaul" (thanks Janis) which I have started due to the first class mess I have been able to inflict on my Legacy program. Keep posting the different replys it all helps Regards Steve Canberra, Aust > Date: Sun, 18 May 2008 11:30:16 -0400 > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Location formatting > To: [email protected] > > Just reread your question - probably should have done that first :) Yes, you > were referring to the master source, so please ignore my reply! > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Johnny V > Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 10:29 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Location formatting > > Thanks for your reply Cathy, but as I can see from how you format and > how Geoff formats that there can never be a right or wrong way only > the way that makes most sense to the person inputting the records. > > Thanks > John Valencic > > > > Legacy User Group guidelines: > http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp > Archived messages: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp > To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp > > > > > > > > Legacy User Group guidelines: > http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp > Archived messages: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp > To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp > > > _________________________________________________________________ Be part of history.
