There is no best. I think it really depends on which computer you consider to 
be the one that you will use for the majority of your data enty. If you are 
going to use them about equally, I would consider keeping the data on the 
portable, but just remember that it will be subject to more abuse and potential 
failure. Therefore, be religious in backing up to both computers internal hard 
drives.
