Sometimes when I have not been able to uninstall via Control Panel Add/Remove. This problem was related for me when I had several different installations on my machine.

I have been able to uninstall, when I go to installation directory and run unwise.exe. Unwise.exe will use the install.log file in the same folder, where sometimes the process via Control Panel has problems locating the correct install.log file.

Good detective work on your Error 53, I need to refer to the log file you mentioned more myself.

I just checked for log files and in LegError.log, I found this:
Sunday, September 16, 2007Error 3314: The field 'tblMR.IDMS' cannot contain a Null value because the Required property for this field is set to True. Enter a value in this field. - Error saving Marriage. Saturday, June 21, 2008Error 53: File not found - Error creating Virtual Earth map.

There are a lot more of the Error53 lines (as many times as I tried).

I also looked for the install.log file and find that it is in the Legacy directory (in which installed). I can attach my install file if that is allowed and if it will help solve my problems, which are now 2:
1. Cannot uninstall
2. Cannot use VE

Amrit.

I assume on your original install you saw no error messages.
I wonder whether reinstall would make a difference.

1) You might want to check your system, for XP maybe other OSs
scan file system

To do this simply go to the *Run *box on the *Start Menu* and type in:

*sfc /scannow*

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection <http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html#> service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

2) Would it be possible for you to list your System info.
on XP
Start->My Computer
Right Click and select properties

On My System(jdm) (With abbreviations)
MS XP
Pro
Ver 2002
SP2
SKIP REGISTER TO STUFF
Computer Intel
P4 2.53 GHz
2.56 GHZ 2 GB Ram

Ron,
I tired with IE7 as default too and the result was the same. I am able to access VE at http://maps.live.com/ from FF3.* and IE7. Only that I keep getting the same error irrespective of from where within Legacy I access it. I have not tried reinstall, but am not optimistic, as my father-in-law too has the same problem - same error message.

Amrit.

Amrit,

You only have to have IE7 installed not set as default - so since you have it you can now forget
about it. You say "purchased" so I assume you have the Delux. Do you have enough memory
to run it (I know it says "Path not Found")?

I don't think these possibilities will work but here goes: You do not say how you are
opening VE: have you tried both ways viz. using the Icon and View>Master
Sources>Locations making sure that the Show Map box is set in the case of the
latter - you may have to wait a while. You could try File Maintenance/Check Repair
but I'm even less optimistic!

If all else fails then reinstall may be the only option

Subject: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth

I purchased the upgrade to LG7 and upgraded. The VE does not work. I get
an error message:

Error creating Virtual Earth map
Error 53: File not found
Would you like to try again
Yes/No/Quit

I have IE7.* on my m/c, but it is not my default browser (FFX3.* is). I
switched to IE7 as default and still got the same error. Can anyone throw
light on what the problem may be? Legacy has been of very little help so
far.

Thanks,
Amrit.
