Jim,

Since I first saw this email and found that you have a network I have puzzled in case I am missing something, if so I cannot think what!

Your .fdb file is usually stored in C:\Legacy\Data (if not then you will know where it is :-)). You need to make the Data folder into a shared folder so go to it, right click and select "Sharing and Security". Under the Sharing tab you will see "Network sharing and security" now check the boxes next to "Share this folder on the web" and "allow network users to change my files" (if that is what you want, otherwise it will in effect be read only) and give it a Share name (or leave it as "Data" if you wish). You will now be able to access the .fdb files and back-ups from all or any of your networked machines.

Note: You can only use one machine at a time. It gets very complex otherwise as one has to introduce a queueing system.

Good Day ...

... I hope all is well

... your help is required about the following:

1. I have Legacy Family Tree 7 installed on five computers in my house.

2. I will only have one computer open at a time.

3. I want the capability to work on Legacy Family Tree 7 from any house computer and, I want to be assured that
I'm working on the 'latest' copy of the file.

4. So, I want to 'share' Legacy, but, do not know the steps for doing such.

5. Would some kind soul walk me through the process?

6. Four computers have XP Home, OE 7; the fifth computer has Vista Home Premium, OE 7.

Thanks for your time & consideration.

Take care.
