Elizabeth, It is so, so easy to to make an error when transferring data using the split screen that I regard first backing up of both files to be essential. I have sometimes found that I have the wrong screen in focus when making a transfer hence duplicating a change. I do not really understand your (b) hence nor (c), mind you I have only just got up - I seem to be working mid-Atlantic time these days :-). If you are suggesting deleting your .fdb files why? These will be no different to those in the clean back-up which you have just made. Many of us run 2 copies of Legacy on our PC and there is not a problem provided (a) that they are in seprate directories, (b) the associated files are in different directories, (c) they do not use the same Data files (d) one doesn't try and merge a Legacy7 file into a Legacy6 database. I have mine on different drives. Again, to me, your second paragraph is not clear. If you think that you may have two versions installed why not use Windows/Agent Ransack/Google Desktop etc to search for the files?
